Summit
guides will meet you at the airport when you arrive in the
interior and look after you from there.
Summit
charters coaches to pick up the tour group and take us to the resort. We
get you settled in our luxury on mountain accommodation and organise your
lift tickets. Then our guides break the tour up into groups according to
ability and speed around the mountain. Each group is then shown around the
resort by our tour guides.
Our
guides are all experienced instructors or ski patrollers who know all the
best spots on the mountain. They will ski with you all day and even offer
free tips to those who want them. However, the tours are flexible so if
you want to do your own thing then go for it. After five days skiing we
then travel by coach to the next resort where the guides will again look
after you and ski you around.
We
know that each person on a tour has their own desires and we try to ensure
that guests are treated as individuals not just members of a group.
THE
BEST SKIING IN CANADA
Canada is one of the most popular ski
destinations in the world and with good reason. The sensational mountains
combined with consistently great powder snow attract skiers from all
countries. It is widely accepted that the best skiing in Canada is in the
west where the powder is driest. British Columbia
and Alberta (Canada's western states)
offer the best of these ideal skiing conditions not to mention zero lift
lines and uncrowded slopes that can stretch for up to 8 kilometres.
The
mountains on tour Apex Resort, Red Mountain, Big White Resort, Silver
Star Resort, Fernie Alpine Resort,
Kicking Horse and Castle Mountain are located inland from
Vancouver, positioned between Whistler and Banff. These resorts
consistently receive over 7 metres of snow a year but are far less
susceptible to the wet snow common to the coastal mountains such as
Blackcomb/Whistler. Whilst we would not dare put down Blackcomb /Whistler
as a mountain, the fact is that the base is at a very low altitude and it
is not uncommon for it to be raining at the base whilst it is snowing at
the top. The base of the resorts on our tour are at a higher altitude and
far less susceptible to rain. On the other side you have the Banff area
where temperatures regularly plunge to -30C. Throughout the Interior you
really do get the best of both worlds with drier snow than
Blackcomb/Whistler and less chance of getting the bitter colds of Banff.
The
variety of terrain is unlike anything you will experience in Australia,
from never ending cruisers to bump runs for ALL abilities.
Skiers who
enjoy the extreme will think they are in heaven.
Each of the mountain
destinations feature a unique character and charm and by travelling to and
from the different resorts you
will experience first hand
the magnificent Canadian countryside on offer. For more information on the
mountains on tour follow this link to
Canada Mountains.
TOUR
SIZE
Each tour is based on 3 tour staff and only 18
guests!
AGE
GROUPS
The age group on every tour is different. On
most tours the average age is between the low 30's to the mid 40's. We
usually have a spread of ages on each tour but one thing is common, the
love of skiing and the fun.
HOW
GOOD DO I HAVE TO BE?
The tours are designed to cater for intermediate
skiers to experts. If you can not easily ski or ride blue runs then the
tour may not be for you. We will happily accept beginners on the tour but
they would have to utilise the local ski school
services until they are quick enough to keep up with our slowest group. If
in doubt drop us an email.
GUIDES
All Summit Ski & Snowboard Tours guides are
experienced ski instructors or patrollers equipped with an intimate
knowledge of the resorts we visit. Our guides will ski with you all day
and offer free tips for guests who wish to improve their skiing. Take
advantage of their experience, knowledge and skills and watch as your own
skiing advances to the next level.
TRANSPORTATION
Summit charters local coach companies to provide
all our transportation. The coaches are 47 passenger with TV's and toilet
facilities. They are the most comfortable way to get from one resort to
the other. As the coaches are chartered they work on our timetable.
If you are unable to meet the tour group at the
arranged bus departure time you will need to make your own transport
arrangements to meet the tour group at the resort.
ACCOMMODATION
The accommodation on tour is fantastic. You
really will be surprised when you see the high quality of the condos and
homes that we use. The actual style of accommodation varies at each
mountain; however, all the accommodation is on-mountain ski in-ski out and
has cooking facilities. The only exception to this is at Red Mountain. All
accommodation is twin share but if you wish a room to yourself it can be
arranged (additional costs
involved). To get more detail on the actual
accommodation at each resort (and check out some photos) follow this link
to the
accommodation page.
SNOWBOARDERS
Snowboarders are most welcome on any of our
tours and are sure to marvel at the terrain on offer, including some
awesome terrain parks and half pipes. However, guides on each of
the tours are skiers and are not able to provide much in the way of
tips for boarders. If
there are six or more boarders, Summit will provide a snowboard
guide.
ATTITUDE
Our ski tours are designed to give skiers and
snowboarders the best snow holiday experience. Our emphasis is quite
simply on great fun and great snow.
Our program is flexible in order to
suit the needs and wants of each participant. On tour, you will ski in
small groups with others of your standard,
with a guide
there to assist every step of the way.
FLEXIBILITY
We pride ourselves on the flexibility of our
tours, which is only possible by keeping the groups small. There is no
problem with guests doing their own thing. If you want to sleep in, go
shopping, ski by yourself or with a friend then you can. Our guides will
do everything to help you meet your personal holiday needs.
